Installing WHM / Cpanel

This document describes the series of commands that install cPanel & WHM on your server. During the cPanel & WHM installation process, Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.4 are installed by default. After this installation process is complete, you can customize your server's Apache and PHP configuration with WHM EasyApache feature.

Install cPanel & WHM

To install cPanel & WHM, run the following commands:

  1. To open the /home directory, run the following command:

    [root@swf ~]# cd /home
  2. Install GNU Wget if its not already done.

    [root@swf ~]# yum install wget

    OR depending on your OS

    [root@swf ~]# sudo apt-get install wget
  3. To fetch the latest installation files from cPanel's servers, run the following command:

    [root@swf ~]# wget -N http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/latest
  4. To open and execute the installation files, run the following command:

    [root@swf ~]# sh latest
    

Warning

To install cPanel & WHM on a 5.x version of CentOS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or CloudLinux, use the --force option when you run the installer. We strongly recommend that server administrators use the newest version of their operating system.
